The Russian Seasons project in France will start in mid-January with Chekhov's Uncle Vanya play, TASS reports. The play will be performed on the stage of The Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe on January 16. The main roles will be performed by Evgeny Mironov, Elizaveta Boyarskaya, Julia Peresild and others.

According to the deputy head of the Russian Government Olga Golodets, Chekhov was chosen by the host. France asked that it was the Russian classics that opened the Russian Seasons. Golodets recalled that the events of the Russian Seasons, held in Italy and Germany in 2018-2019, were attended by about 9 million people.

The festival program includes a tour of the Bolshoi Theater, various exhibitions are also planned within it. For the first time, the National Youth Orchestra will join the participants of the Russian Seasons.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed the hope that the festival would be a great success.
