A model of the house where the Russian emperor Peter the Great stayed during his first visit to Holland in 1697 was presented at the museum of Zandam. The replica was created by carpenter and restorer Peter Hofeling, who used old drawings to bring the project to life. The work took him about six months. The house may become part of an exhibition, which is being prepared at the museum for the 350th anniversary of Peter the Great, TASS reports.

Representatives of the Russian embassy in Holland attended the presentation of the replica. House of Peter I is one of the most famous sights of Zandam, the building was built in 1632. About 15 thousand residents and tourists from different countries visit the museum annually.

Zandam is famous for its craftsmen, some of their works are kept in the Hermitage and other leading world museums. In the past, masters repeatedly created smaller copies of the Dutch Peter the Great House Museum. The peculiarity of the replica by Peter Hofeling is that the master recreated the house according to the surviving drawings. The author also studied the history of Zandaman architecture.

According to the keeper of the House of Peter I Farida Huseynova, the model can be included in one of the exhibitions that will open in the museum in 2022 as part of the celebration of the 350th anniversary of Peter the Great.
