Russian cinema week begins in Hungary

The week of Russian cinema starts on Thursday, December 5, in Budapest, Russia’s Ministry of Culture reports on its website. 

The program of the festival includes seven works of Russian directors created during the last few years, including features that have already been awarded with various film festival prizes and have received recognition from the audience. Among them are Boris Akopov’s The Bull, which received Grand Prix of the last Kinotavr film festival and Andrey Volgin’s military drama The Balkan Frontier, dedicated to the events in Yugoslavia in 1999 and the fight of Russian special forces against terrorists. The program of the film forum also boasts Barabbas by Eugeny Emelin, I Am Free by Ilya Severov, Your Tutor by Anton Kolomeyts and others.

Russian filmmakers will present their works to Hungarian viewers: producer Vadim Birkin, actors Tatyana Polosina, Gleb Kalyuzhny, Yuri Borisov, Pavel Krainov. The festival is organized by Planeta Kino, its CEOs Maria Bezruk and Dmitry Kabanovsky will also join the film forum.

Films will be screened in Russian with subtitles in English and Hungarian.
