Russian film festival starts in Warsaw

The 13th festival of Russian cinema called Satellite over Poland starts on November 21 in Warsaw. The program of the show includes hits from film festivals, documentaries and films for young viewers.

In total, 170 screenings are planned to take place. Viewers will watch 106 features in fifteen categories. 

The Man Who Surprised Everyone by Natalya Merkulova and Aleksey Chupov, Once in Trubchevsk by Larisa Sadilova, Acid by Aleksander Gorchilin and Aleksander Zolotukhin's A Russian Youth are going to take part in the competition. They will be joined by Boris Akopov’s The Bull, which won the Kinotavr award, Van Goghs by Sergey Livnev and Big Poetry by Aleksander Lungin. 

A documentary contest called Documentary Russia and a retrospective of films by Pavel Lungin are also planned within the festival. This year, the Russian director will become an honored guest of the forum. Viewers will be able to watch a range of his works - Island, Luna Park, Taxi Blues, Oligarch and Tsar on the big screen.

The Yakutia. Where the sun does not set special section will be dedicated to modern Yakut cinema. Viewers will watch Lubov Borisova’s The Sun Above Me Never Sets , which won the audience prize at the Moscow Film Festival.

The festival will be accompanied by other events – The Arctic exhibition, which features photographs taken during the filming of The Great Northern Route and the screenings of the latest Russian features for children and youth.
