The role of BRICS in the world will continue to grow over time, Russian President Vladimir Putin is convinced. In his opinion, BRICS will not become a limited union, RIA Novosti reports.

This organization serves as a guarantee of stability in the political arena and the global economy. He recalled that BRICS did not support protectionism and always stood for open markets.

Putin added that statistics also testified to this. This year, the BRICS has already surpassed the G-7 in terms of GDP by twelve percent. Next year, the international organization will have a fifty trillion-dollar increase. This is an important factor in world affairs, which will become increasingly significant, Vladimir Putin is sure.

The Russian leader did not agree that BRICS was remembered only during international meetings. The Brazilian authorities have been preparing the organization’s summit throughout the year, coordinating positions on the main development tracks. Putin expressed gratitude to his Brazilian colleagues for their efforts to organize a summit that was held at a high level.

BRICS leaders agreed on the final document, Vladimir Putin emphasized. The declaration was quite rigid in certain formulations, which the participants consider as fundamental, the president explained. He assured that Moscow, which would chair the BRICS in 2020, would continue to maintain the pace set by Brazil in those positions that the organization considered the key ones.
