The first forum of rectors of Russian and British universities is held in Moscow. It is organized by the Russian Union of Rectors, the Association of Universities of Great Britain, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Great Britain, Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) and the British Council. The event is attended by representatives of forty national universities and twenty higher educational institutions of Great Britain.

The two-day program includes a discussion of pressing problems and prospects for the development of cooperation in the educational and scientific fields.

The MSU rector Viktor Sadovnichy is sure that the forum is a unique opportunity to strengthen friendship between the two countries. According to him, the forum could be a turning point in the university history of Russia and the UK. He noted that the history of cooperation between MSU and British universities was rooted in the creation of the first Russian university. And since then it continued throughout the existence of MSU.

The head of the British Council Kiron Devine invited Russian rectors to pay a return visit to Britain in June 2020, get to know the universities of the country and take part in a global conference on higher education.
