Turkish MFA: Cross year of culture with Russia helped develop bilateral relations

The Cross Year of Culture and Tourism of Russia and Turkey has become an additional incentive for the development of bilateral relations that link Moscow and Ankara, deputy Turkish minister of culture and tourism Ozgul Ozkan Yavuz is sure. In her opinion, the Cross Year contributes to the rapprochement of the peoples of the two countries, TASS reports. She said this on the eve of the opening of the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. Turkey organizes a special program there, which represents the country through discussions and cultural events.

Contacts between Russia and Turkey are becoming more intense, and dialogue is becoming more active. Relations are being strengthened in the political and economic spheres, as well as in trade. The cross year helps to increase mutual understanding in the field of art, improves strong relations between the two countries in the tourism industry.

Let us remember, there were several dozens of events on the program of the Year of Culture, including concerts, exhibitions, performances. Turkey has become an honored guest of the Moscow International Film Festival. A week of Russian cinema is planned in Turkey. The Tretyakov Gallery showed paintings from its collections in Istanbul. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Cross Year promotes the expansion of cultural exchanges and contacts in the fields of education, science and tourism.

The Cross Year of Culture opened with the opera Troy, which was performed at the Bolshoi Theater.
