Prominent cultural figures receive Russian Rome Award

Singer Svetlana Kasyan, writer Leonid Yuzefovich, director of the Vatican Museums Barbara Yatta and other Russians and foreigners became laureates of the Russian Rome international award. The award ceremony took place in the Palazzo Poli, where the Russian aristocrat and patroness of the arts Zinaida Volkonskaya gathered the most famous artists and writers of her time, according to TASS.

The soloist of the Moscow Novaya Opera Theater Svetlana Kasyan was awarded the prize in the Music nomination. In 2019, the Russian performer conquered the Italian public and received the prestigious award from the Pope.

Barbara Yatta was awarded for organizing an exhibition of Russian art in the Vatican. The head of the Vatican Museums dedicated the award to her Russian grandmother in Russian. The famous Russian writer Leonid Yuzefovich was awarded for his success in literature, and Julian Henry Lowenfeld was awarded the Russian Rome prize for translating into English the poems of Pushkin and other Russian classics.

The soloist of the Bolshoi Theater Jacopo Tissi and Apeksha Bhattacharia, who opened the only Russian ballet school in India, received awards for the promotion and development of the traditions of Russian classical ballet.

The Alisher Usmanov Foundation received a prize for patronage of art, science and sports. The special prize was also awarded to the Andrei Tarkovsky Foundation – it was timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the release of the Stalker film.

Along with the award ceremony in the Italian capital, the Russian Rome Festival opened for the third time, cultural figures from 25 countries participated in it.
