Grand guests of the exhibition of works by Marc Chagall will be the granddaughters of the artist Meret and Bella Meyer, TASS reports. They were invited to the opening ceremony of the exhibition, which will be held at the New Jerusalem Museum. The vernissage is scheduled for mid-November, viewers will be able to visit it until the beginning of March.

Among the exhibits there are almost two hundred and forty works that are provided by various museums, both from Russia and from abroad, and by private collectors. They are combined by theme and chronology.

Paintings and drawings of the beginning of the last century are united under the name Life on Earth. The section with works related to travel to the Holy Land is called Travels and Bridges. The Genesis of Heaven section includes works by Chagall of the second half of the twentieth century.

More than two dozen sketches will be exhibited from Russia for the first time, as well as one hundred and five biblical prints.

The granddaughter of Chagall Meret Meyer admitted that she was very pleased that the museum was ready to open to the public all the variety of artistic techniques that the artist had used over a long career. Chagall’s works will complement household items, interiors, religious goods, popular prints and tiles.

The museum has published a catalog for the exhibition. It includes materials about the life and work of the artist, his biography, letters from Mark and Bella Chagall, which were not published earlier. The publication reproduces all the works presented at the exhibition.
