Literary critic Lev Anninsky passed away

World-known literary critic and writer Lev Anninsky has passed away, TASS reports. He was 85 years old. 

According to the TV presenter Alexander Arkhangelsky, the name of Anninsky was familiar to the widest readership in the Soviet Union. He wrote "easily and freely", it was he who "set the norm."

Lev Anninsky was born on April 7, 1934 in Rostov-on-Don. He realized that he would like to engage in Russian literature while still being a school student. After school he entered the philological faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The critic and writer worked in various literary publications, including Znamya, Literaturnoe Obozrenie and Rodina. He collaborated with the Druzhba Narodov, which is supported by the Russkiy Mir Foundation. He also acted as the author and host of the television programs Silver and Niello, Copper Pipes, Ambush Regiment, Boys of the State and Lion Hunt.

For his work, Lev Anninsky repeatedly won the TEFI National Television Award. He is also a laureate of the Alexander Nevsky Russia's Faithful Sons award. His two-volume Red Age received a government award in the field of culture.
