Valentina Tereshkova: Russian language unites us on Earth and in space

04.11.2019

Love for the homeland and the desire to do everything for its prosperity is the main distinguishing feature of Russians in general and residents of Yaroslavl in particular, the world's first woman in space Valentina Tereshkova noted. She said this at the opening ceremony of the 13th Russkiy Mir Assembly, which was held in Yaroslavl. The audience met Tereshkova with a standing ovation.

“I had a difficult fortune to be among those who paved the way into space,” shared the Hero of the Soviet Union, - The Russian speech was heard in the first flights in space. The farther the rocket takes you from the Earth, the closer you get to it.” The cosmonaut said that "only in the distant expanses of outer space, you begin to understand how many things unite us and how insignificant are the things that separate us.”

“Thank you all for your love of Russia, for the opportunity to speak Russian, to promote the Russian language,” the State Duma deputy added, - “The language allows us to learn the history of our country, to get to know better the talented people - the Russians.”

Valentina Tereshkova said that representatives of the United States, France and the European Space Agency are now engaged in the Cosmonaut Training Center. Russian ships deliver foreign specialists to the International Space Station. And everyone who works with us, we teach the Russian language, because it is necessary to work in space, to control technology, she added. “You are on Earth, and we are doing a good deed in space - we are teaching people to speak Russian, comprehend our history, the history of our cosmonautics,” she said.

Initially, the flights were performed by one cosmonaut. Now there are crews, which, on the one hand, is easier, but on the other hand - people are faced with a huge load. “Our country always says that space should be an arena of peaceful cooperation, to benefit all people who live on Earth,” Valentina Tereshkova summed up.
