Golden Mask performances come to Estonia from Germany, Finland and other countries

Tallinn Festival of the best performances, marked with the Russian Golden Mask Award, celebrated its 15th anniversary. In October, productions of leading Russian theaters were shown in Tallinn, Narva, Kohtla-Järve and other Estonian cities. According to the organizers, over the course of all 15 years, the festival has remained a huge interest, the Kultura TV Channel reports.

The chance to see the performances by the leading theaters of Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities of Russia attracts Estonians as well as residents of Germany, Finland, the Baltic countries and other European countries. Spectators also come from the border regions of Russia.

The deputy chairman of the Narva City Council Larisa Olenina said that the city budget allocated funds for organizing the Golden Mask festival to provide discounted tickets for children, teachers, pensioners and low-income groups.

This year, the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, the Mossovet Theater, the Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater and other famous theaters performed in Estonia. Viewers saw the performances of Russian classics (works by Leo Tolstoy and Alexander Ostrovsky), which are very popular among Estonian theater-goers, and performances based on plays by contemporary authors.
