Russia and Norway implement nine joint cultural projects

Nine joint cultural projects totaling over 20 million rubles ($314,600.00) will be implemented by Russia and Norway in the next three years. The agreement was signed by Norwegian Minister of Culture Frida Blomgren and Russian Ambassador to Oslo Teimuraz Ramishvili. The ceremony was attended by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who arrived at events in honor of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of northern Norway by Soviet troops, TASS reports.

Joint projects that to be implemented from 2019 to 2021 will include funding for performances by Russian and Norwegian theaters, projects to preserve and promote the culture of the indigenous peoples of the North. Frida Blomgren emphasized that the cultural cooperation between the two countries had been going on for many years and that political processes did not affect him.

Note that Sergey Lavrov took part in events marking the anniversary of the Soviet liberation of northern Norway from Nazi invaders. The program of the visit of the Foreign Minister included meetings with Russian and Norwegian veterans, laying flowers at the monuments to the fallen heroes, opening exhibitions and other events.
