International Peter's Congress opens in Berlin

The International Congress of Peter the Great called Russia and Germany in the era of Peter the Great: historical and cultural ties begins work at the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin on October 24. The thirteenth forum will be attended by historians and cultural experts from Russia, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Austria, Poland and other countries. Congress became the part of the program of the Russian Seasons cultural project, according to the website of the Ministry of Culture of Russia.

Participants will discuss the history of Peter the Great's visits to Germany and the agreements that were concluded during these trips. The issues of cooperation between countries in the scientific and educational fields in the times of Peter the Great and other eras, as well as the use of the image of the Russian emperor in German literature will be also touched upon. A photo exhibition dedicated to Peter the Great will open within the framework of the congress; books on the Russian ruler will be presented within it.

Russian World reported that the previous Peter’s Congress was held in the spring of 2019 in St. Petersburg. During the forum, dedicated to the memory of the writer Daniil Granin, the participants discussed the reflection of the image of Peter the Great in world culture. Historians from different countries presented about 80 reports at the congress.
