More than 30 documents are planned to be signed during the visit of Vladimir Putin to Saudi Arabia on October 14, RIA Novosti reports. The Russian president was invited by King Salman Ben Abdel Aziz Al Saud, who visited Moscow two years ago.

It won’t be the first visit to the Arab country for the Russian leader: he came there more than ten years ago, in 2007. According to the Saudi side, it was in the last few years that bilateral relations between Moscow and Riyadh have strengthened and expanded.

The Russian president and the Saudi King often spoke on the phone. Putin also met more than once with Crown Prince Mohammed Ben Salman.

Within the framework of today's meeting, the leaders of the two countries will touch upon issues of developing cooperation in various fields. The priority is interaction in the energy and agricultural sectors. They will also discuss industry and cooperation in the military-technical industry. It is expected that another important topic of discussion will be the limitation of oil production. Negotiations scheduled for October 14 may provide billions of dollars in trade deals.

Vladimir Putin and King Salman Ben Abdel Aziz Al Saud will exchange views on important issues on the international agenda, focusing on the Middle East and North African regions. They will touch upon the situation in Syria, the crisis in Yemen and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The Russian president is also scheduled to attend the first meeting of the Russian-Saudi Economic Council, which includes representatives of large business of the two countries, two dozen people on each side.

The assistant to the head of state Yury Ushakov recalled that in 2018, bilateral trade increased by fifteen percent. Its volume exceeded a billion dollars.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has no doubt that the summit will turn into yet another incentive for the development of multilateral partnership and will help it reach a new level.

The next day, October 15, Vladimir Putin will go the United Arab Emirates with a state visit.
