The anniversaries of the creation of the PRC and the establishment of diplomatic relations between neighboring countries are almost always celebrated together, since there is only a day difference between the two events. The Soviet Union was the first country to recognize the PRC. Russian Ambassador to Beijing Andrey Denisov noted that the leaders of modern Russia and China relied on the historical traditions of interaction between the two countries.

Dancing and music ruled the evening at the ball. Seventy pairs of girls and boys from Russia, China and other countries took to the dance floor and danced to the live music.
The conductor of the Novaya Opera Theater Andrei Lebedev, as well as dancers and singers from Russia, took part in the concert.
