A month of Russian culture started on October 1 in Canada, TASS reports. The initiative group for its implementation included a dozen organizations of Russian compatriots. According to Natalia Taryshkina, who heads the Rodnik cultural and educational center, which operates in Ottawa, a large-scale project is being conducted for the first time. She expressed the hope that the month of Russian cultural heritage would become an annual tradition.

Vernissages and photo exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, performances, literary evenings, days of Russian cuisine and fairs, festivals and balls are planned during the event.

The main objective of the large project is the consolidation of the diaspora and the popularization of Russian culture among local residents.

In addition to the cultural, a large-scale business program is planned. Seminars and business presentations will be held to develop joint projects with Canadian partners. They are organizing a Russian language course for Canadians.

Events of the Month of Russian Culture will unite Vancouver, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and other cities of Canada.

Ottawa residents will be invited, in particular, to the Russian Soul concert. Canadian and Russian musicians will take the stage. In their performance, famous works of Russian composers will be performed.

Toronto and Winnipeg organize Russian balls.

As Russkiy Mir reported, a charity evening called Ballet: ahead of the rest!, dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the legendary ballerina Galina Ulanova, was earlier held in Toronto.
