The rally is dedicated to the anniversary of the passage of Alexander Suvorov through the Alps. 220 years old have passed since that date.

The participants in the race were escorted by Russian diplomats, other members of the public and compatriots. The parting word was also said by the mayor of the city David Halimberti.

Before the start, retro cars were exhibited for inspection by residents of Varese and city guests, who hosted the participants of the rally with genuine interest. The event was attended by students of Russian-language schools in Milan.

Note that the Swiss campaign of Suvorov took place in 1799 and lasted for two weeks. His army included more than twenty thousand people. After the heroic feat, the commander was awarded the highest military rank of Generalissimo.

Earlier the Russian and Swiss parliamentarians paid tribute to the Russian soldiers who died in battles with Napoleon. A memorial ceremony was held in Andermatt. Flowers and wreaths were laid at the monument - a cross twelve meters high, which was carved in a rock in honor of the soldiers of Suvorov in the Scholennen gorge, located above the Royce River.
