International Platonov Conference to bring together scientists from 12 countries

Researchers of the work of the Russian writer Andrey Platonov, translators, publishers and directors from twelve countries will take part in the 9th International Scientific Conference “Andrey Platonov in the World Cultural Space”, which will begin work on September 23 at the Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The conference will be the main event in the program to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the writer, Regnum reports.

The Russian capital welcomes guests from dozens of regions of Russia, the USA, Germany, Italy, Spain, China, Japan, Ukraine and other countries. According to the organizers, the upcoming conference will be a record in the number and geographical spread of participants.

The guests of the conference will consider Platonov's prose in the context of the period he worked in and will discuss the artistic and philosophical discoveries of the writer. The issues of translating the texts of Andrey Platonov, recognized as one of the most difficult to translate in Russian literature, into other languages ​​of the world, and creating adaptations based on his works, will also be raised.

The new editions of Platonov’s works and letters in different languages ​​of the world and the results of the work of the Institute of World Literature staff on the collected works of the writer with scientific comments will be presented during the conference. An important part of the conference will be the My Platonov round table, which will be attended by leading contemporary writers of Russia.
