Issues of preserving Russian language and raising bilingual children discussed at conference in Sweden

The role of compatriots in preserving the Russian language, spiritual and cultural values ​​was the topic of discussion at the all-Swedish conference held in Stockholm. Over fifty organizations, societies and individuals took part in it, the Union of Russian Societies in Sweden reports.

Experts paid much attention to the peculiarities of the education of bilingual children. The head of the union Lyudmila Siegel announced the opening of a traveling exhibition about the Altay Region. They plan to show it in many organizations of Russian compatriots throughout Sweden. Ludmila Siegel donated books in Russian and Swedish to the Sundsvall published by Lomonosov Publishing House.

The Russian ambassador to Sweden Viktor Tatarintsev recalled that the consolidation of the Russian world remained the most important task of compatriots abroad. He noted that for the first time since 2014, relations between Russia and Sweden was improving, and 2019 can be considered a watershed.

The representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in Denmark Artyom Markaryan spoke about ongoing projects related to the retraining of Russian teachers, their trips to Russia for further training. Children from Sweden visited Russia this year as part of the Hello, Russia! program, young compatriots participated in We are Young Festival in Sweden and children and youth sports in Khanty-Mansiysk.

The representative of the Russkiy Mir Foundation Oleg Mukovsky noted the enormous role that women play in the upbringing of the younger generation. He spoke about global projects being implemented in many countries - Total Dictation, TruD, and the Immortal Regiment campaign. He also announced plans to open the Russian Language Cabinet at the People's University of Sodertalje - this event is scheduled for the end of 2019.

Young participants of the We are different - we are equal international session, held in Artek last summer, received letters of appreciation. The resolution was adopted following the conference.
