The level of discrimination against Russian-speaking residents of Finland has decreased, the services of medical institutions and social bodies in Russian have become more available. This is evidenced by the report of the commission against racism and intolerance of the Council of Europe. At the same time, the authors of the study note an increase in suspicion of Russian-speaking residents in the Finnish media and power structures, TASS reports.

Members of the commission received data on reducing the level of discrimination from Russian-speaking public organizations, which announced a significant improvement in the situation. At the same time, representatives of the same organizations stated that they felt a biased attitude towards the Russian community by the media and government agencies after the Crimea entered Russia and the outbreak of hostilities in the Donbass.

According to representatives of organizations and communities uniting Russian-speaking residents of Finland, a change in attitude in the negative direction was reflected in difficulties in obtaining state funding from Helsinki.

According to the Council of Europe, 77 thousand Russian speakers live in Finland, most of them are natives of the former republics of the Soviet Union.
