The International Music Stars on Baikal Festival starts in Irkutsk

The performance of pianist Denis Matsuev, a native of Irkutsk, as well as the Austrian violinist Julian Rakhlin and the orchestra conducted by American Kristjan Järvi opens on September 4 in Irkutsk with the 14th Baikal Stars International Music Festival. Among its other events, the program includes charity concerts. The revenue will be donated to the needs of flood victims in the Irkutsk Region, the website of the Russian Ministry of Culture reports.

The festival will be held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Russia, it will complete its work on September 13. In addition to those already mentioned (Matsuev will take part in several programs), world celebrities will come to the festival stage - the Mariinsky Theater soloist Albina Shagimuratova and the opera prima Khibla Gerzmava. Both performers are winners of the Tchaikovsky Competition.

According to the organizers of the festival, it will be held under the sign of one of the most respected music competitions in the world. Twelve winners and laureates of the Tchaikovsky Competition will give concerts in Irkutsk, including the 2019 Grand Prix holder, pianist Alexander Kantorov, American Kenneth Broberg and Japanese Mao Fujitsu.

One of the central events of the festival will be the staging of the musical performance The Golden Cockerel, which will bring together soloists from leading opera houses in Russia.
