Documents on the progress of the Bucharest-Arad operation, previously stored under wraps, are made publicly available in a special Internet section opened by the Russian Ministry of Defence on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Bucharest from Nazi invaders, RIA Novosti reports.

The portal contains copies of orders, military magazines, political reports, newspaper publications, as well as information about the heroism of Soviet soldiers and the awards that were presented after the operation.

The official data on enemy losses is also of great interest. From August 20 to August 31, 150 thousand soldiers and officers of the Nazi army were destroyed, and more than one hundred thousand were captured. More than 830 enemy tanks and self-propelled guns were also disabled during the operation.

In addition, declassified documents tell about the heroism of the soldiers of the Red Army during the liberation of Bucharest. The section contains award sheets of distinguished fighters. One of them, sergeant Prokofy Baranov, destroyed 3 large-caliber guns, 6 vehicles and 30 enemy soldiers, but he himself died in an unequal battle.
