The 100 years anniversary of the Russian circus is celebrated on Monday, August 26, RIA Novosti reports. Its birthday is the date of signing the decree of the Council of People's Commissars on the unification of theatrical affairs. The document was signed one hundred years ago by Vladimir Lenin. The decree passed all circuses in the country to the state. They were included in the Soyuzgoskirk union, which became the Russian State Circus Company after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

A festive anniversary performance will be held next month. It is scheduled for mid-September and will be held in Moscow, in the Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard. It is planned that many legends of Russian circus will enter the arena. Artists who have given their whole life to the circus will take part in the performance.

A third of the population of Russia believes that the Russian circus is the best in the world. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM). About twenty percent of respondents put the Chinese circus in the second place. The top three closes the French circus art. Following are the American and Canadian circuses.

Nearly ninety percent of respondents have been to the circus at least once in their lives. Eighteen percent went to the show over the past two years. And only eleven percent of those surveyed never went to the circus.
