Russian President Vladimir Putin’s working visit to France takes place on Monday, August 19, TASS reports. The visit is held in The Fort de Bregancon, where the summer residence of the President of France is located.

The administration of the Russian leader noted that it is planned to discuss the problems of promoting bilateral relations. The heads of state will touch upon the prospects of interaction in the international sphere, trade, economy and culture.

Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron exchange views on pressing issues of the international and regional agenda. Among them are Iran’s nuclear program, the settlement of the conflict in Syria, the situation in Libya and Ukraine.

Putin's foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov said the one of the central topics of the meeting of the two leaders is the issue of European security and cooperation between Russia and the European Union amid a change in the composition of the management of EU governance bodies. The Kremlin representative recalled that Moscow repeatedly noted that it was ready to intensify the political dialogue with the EU.

Bilateral interstate political contacts with France have become much more active recently. Despite existing restrictions, the trade between the two countries increased last year by more than eleven percent. Today, it exceeds seventeen billion dollars.

The Kremlin is confident that, in general, the meeting in Bregancon is a logical continuation of regular contacts between the presidents of Russia and France.
