Competition of Italian opera performers takes place in Sochi, the Kultura TV channel reports.

Competizione dell’Opera is one of the largest classical vocal competitions in the world. For more than two decades, it has provided participants with the opportunity to gain professional experience, giving them the chance to perform on the most famous opera stages in the world. The prize fund exceeds twenty thousand euros.

In addition, it gives young singers a headway to the international stage. Every year, their talents and skills are evaluated by representatives of the legendary opera houses and festival leaders, producers, singers and conductors with the most famous names, music journalists and representatives of creative universities.

Previously, Competizione dell’Opera was twice hosted by the Bolshoi Theater on its legendary stage. In other years, the competition was held abroad.

The organizers received more than six hundred applications. About a hundred young soloists were selected to enter the struggle for victory on the Sochi stage.

The main event of the Competizione dell’Opera will be a grand gala concert. It is scheduled for August 9 and will be held in the Great Hall of Sirius Park of Science and Art. Young performers will be accompanied by the Sochi Symphony Orchestra, maestro Anton Lubchenko will take the place at the conductor's desk.
