The study of Russian with the use of innovative methods has become the main feature of the international Children of the World session, which takes place in the Far East educational and health Ocean center. Teachers of the Center for Russian Language and Culture of the Far Eastern Federal University conducted special 10-day courses for children from 17 countries with the support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, Primorskaya Gazeta reports.

According to the director of the Far Eastern branch of the Russkiy Mir Foundation and the president of the Asia-Pacific Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature Alexander Zubritsky, a systematic approach to teaching Russian as a foreign language for schoolchildren was applied in the framework of the Children of the World session at the Ocean center for the first time. Zubritsky assured that the program would be developed and used in the largest Russian centers of children's recreation, such as Artek and Orlyonok.

School students from Europe and Asia, who came to the Far Eastern center were able speak about themselves, their lives and hobbies in Russian after a week and a half of classes. According to teachers, training did not begin with the alphabet, but with the study of speech structures, numbers, prepositions and other elements of oral speech.

The Children of the World session was first launched more than ten years ago, and at first the summer camp accepted only Chinese students. The international session received a boost after the Russkiy Mir Foundation joined the project, as the agreement between the fund and the center was signed in 2017. In recent years, the geography of the project has increased significantly. According to Zubritsky, the Ocean center with the support of the foundation performs a unique mission of national importance.

According to the representative of the foundation, classes in the summer camp allow children from different countries to get acquainted with the culture and traditions of other nations, to understand each other’s mentality, which is necessary for the development of the economy, politics and public relations.
