A scientific expedition to Tobolsk, Kogalym and Nadym devoted to the study of biodiversity and ecology of the region will be held from August 1 to 14 with the participation of students and teachers from Russia and the United States as part of the International summer field school called Way to the North, the Tyumen Line newspaper reports.

The school was organized by Tyumen State University and the American College of Ecology and Forestry at the University of New York. Seven students and three professors came to Tyumen from the USA; thirteen Russian students will join them on the expedition.

During the field school participants will study the biological diversity of the territories and waters of Western Siberia and the life of indigenous peoples. The sphere of interests of the scientific group will include the study of the environment of the Arctic zone.

School organizers pursue not only scientific goals but also an important task of formation of students' scientific work skills in the international team. Another goal of creating the school was the exchange of knowledge and technology between scientists from Russia and the USA.
