The international festival of street cinema starts on Friday, July 26, in the Lipetsk region, Gorod48 information agency reports. Short features will be watched by residents of Lev Tolstoy and Chaplygin settlements. A distinctive feature of this screening is the absence of a jury. The work of young filmmakers will be assessed by the audience. Spectators will vote with flashlights and telephones and organizers of the show will evaluate the level of light to determine the top three.

The results from all venues will be summed up to determine the preferences of the public.

The World Screening of Short Features (Outdoor Film Festival) becomes the sixth in a row this year.It was initiated by a young team from Vladivostok. Enthusiasts opted out of venues with limited entrance, tickets and a jury.

The first time the festival embraced a dozen cities, a year after it visited almost 50 cities, from Vladivostok to Lisbon. In recent years, the festival visited more than three hundred cities. The Russian Ministry of Culture called it one of the most successful non-commercial projects in the country, which found more than a million viewers in 67 countries around the world.

Ruskiy Mir reported that last year the organizers received more than seven hundred applications, of which only nine were selected for the competition. These are social comedies, parables and dramas. In the jubilee season, a non-competitive program also appeared, which included 30 best short films shot in Russia over the past five years. This summer, the festival will cover more than a thousand cities. Two and a half thousand sites will open, the shows will be held for almost two months. Entrance to all events is free.
