An exhibition of photographs dedicated to Russia has begun working in Santiago de Cuba, Rossotrudnichestvo reports on its website. A group of compatriots and graduates of Russian universities are among its organizers.

The exhibition called Russia: history, nature, people is timed to coincide with the anniversary of the storming of the Moncada barracks. This event, which has become a symbol of the Cuban revolution, is celebrating its 66th anniversary this year.

The photographs presented at the Center for Fine and Applied Arts clearly show that the Cuban and Russian nations share common values, such as love for the motherland, diversity of cultures and rich history.

Among the guests of the celebration were representatives of the authorities, local officials, compatriots and all those who were interested in Russia, its history, traditions and attractions.

The speakers emphasized that the two countries had close friendship ties for many years. Russia and Cuba are united by patriotism and readiness to defend their freedom and independence.

The graduates of Russian universities who work at the University of Santiago de Cuba, said that the department of the Russian language would open at the beginning of the next academic year on their initiative.
