The London Pushkin House has launched a new program, COLTA.RU reports. Within its framework, the independent center of Russian culture plans to open residences dedicated to the issues of contemporary Russian poetry and its translation into foreign languages every year. Russian-speaking poets and translators can take part in the program.

The Pushkin House explained that the project was aimed at facilitating the promotion of translations of modern Russian poetry into other languages. According to the organizers, they plan to create a comfortable environment for writers for fruitful joint work. The project will also allow to expand and strengthen professional communications. Public actions and collaborations are also on the program.

The program will also allow Russian-speaking poets to be brought to an international level. Its participants will be able to submit their work to the readers' judgement. The translation will be printed on the pages of the prominent British magazine Modern Poetry in Translation.

Each year the residence will be held in a new location in the UK. Queens College and St. Edmund Hall of Oxford University have been chosen for the first year.
