The G20 summit ended in Osaka. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, summing up the meeting of The Group of Twenty, said that the G20 leaders were able to reach agreements in trade and environmental areas. Russian President Vladimir Putin held a number of important meetings on the margins of the summit, TASS reports.
Shinzo Abe said that The Group of Twenty spoke in favor of speeding up the rules of free and fair trade without discrimination in order to combat the threat of a slowdown in economic growth. According to the Japanese Prime Minister, these processes are impossible without reforming the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Another important agreement was the G20 leaders' desire to eliminate emissions of plastic waste into the oceans completely by 2050.
The joint communiqué notes that the countries of the Group are committed to promoting women's equal rights and reducing gender differences in employment. It emphasizes the need to unite to resolve the problem of mass migration.
The leaders of the G20 countries confirmed the right of each state to determine its path to clean energy and the sources of energy used independently. At the same time, the document calls for world energy security through unimpeded energy supplies of various types of energy resources along all routes.
Disagreements of countries on climate issues are reflected in the final communiqué. The United States reaffirmed its decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement, while other members of the G20 declared their commitment to the agreements reflected in the document.
The schedule of Russian leader Vladimir Putin was very intense at the summit. Head of state held bilateral meetings with the leaders of the United States, Britain, France, Turkey, China, South Africa, Egypt and other states.
The official website of the President of Russia reported that at the meeting of Vladimir Putin with the French leader Emmanuel Macron, the topics of revitalization of the “Norman format” were touched upon, and the leaders discussed the situation in Iran and Syria.
During meetings with US President Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron, Russian president invited foreign colleagues to take part in the celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in May 2020.
