The conversation between Russian and American leaders took place in Osaka, RIA Novosti reports. Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump met on the G-20 summit, which began on Friday, June 28, in Japan. Negotiations of the presidents of the two leading world powers lasted almost an hour and a half. They spoke about the development of bilateral relations. According to them, not only both countries are interested in this, but the whole world is.

Putin and Trump touched on the situation in the international arena, the issues of Syria, Venezuela, Ukraine and Iran. They agreed on the need to continue negotiations on a modern model of arms control.

From the Russian side, Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, Assistant Yuri Ushakov, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov attended the meeting.

According to Putin, a meeting with his colleague from overseas gives them the opportunity to continue the discussion that began in Helsinki.

It should be recalled that last year’s G20 summit, which was held in Buenos Aires, was also supposed to become the venue for two presidents to meet, but the White House host unexpectedly canceled it.

As Russkiy Mir reported, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump talked last fall in Paris, where both took part in celebrations marking the centenary of the end of the First World War.

One of the most significant political events of the past year was the negotiations of the presidents of the United States and Russia, which took place in Helsinki on July 16. The summit was the first full-length meeting of Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
