G20 Leaders Discuss Economy and Ecology Issues in Osaka

Russian President Vladimir Putin is taking part in the G20 summit, which started on Friday, June 28, in Osaka, Japan, TASS reports.

The heads of twenty world-leading countries are going to focus on economic and environmental issues. The leaders of Vietnam, Thailand, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Egypt, Chile and Senegal, as well as UN Secretary-General António Guterres will be the guests of G20. It is planned that the parties will once agian discuss the need to support the growth of the global economy and to ensure fair and free trade.

The problem of plastic garbage which pollutes the waters of the world’s ocean will be the main topic for discussion in the sphere of ecology. The summit will also raise an issue that concerns the reform of the World Trade Organization. A meeting on the current state of the digital economy and the empowerment of women in society will also be held in Osaka.

Putin is going to speak at the first meeting. He is to talk about the need to strengthen the role of the WTO. He will also talk at the session dedicated to the digital economy and present the corresponding national project.

The upcoming bilateral meetings attract the most attention at the summit. Putin has scheduled talks with his American counterpart Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. His schedule includes meetings with the leaders of Great Britain, France, Germany, Turkey, India, China, South Africa and Egypt and Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud will be held. A brief exchange of views with the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, is also planned.
