Golden Mask festival opens in Tel Aviv

Golden Mask Festival went to Israel, TASS reports. The local public will meet with Russian artists. Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, Moscow Musical Theater and the Theater of Nations will perform in Tel Aviv on June 13-28. 

According to the organizers, international experts select performances that are brought to Israel every year. Gesher Theater is a regular partner of the Golden Mask in the country. The festival is organized by the Union of Theater Workers of Russian Federation and the Russian Ministry of Culture. 

For the first time, Golden Mask visited Israel 8 years ago. The performances of the most eminent Russian teams were a resounding success. After that, it was decided that cooperation, which is aimed at developing bilateral ties in the field of culture, should be continued and strengthened. 

Since then, theaters from Moscow, Yaroslavl and Magnitogorsk have joined the program. Their performances were attended by about 15 000 people. 

Chekhov Moscow Art Theater will show the production of Husbands and Wives, Theater of Nations will show The Circus. Musical Theater will bring the Reverse experimental performance. Acrobatics, circus and modern dance are intertwined in it. After the end of each performance a discussion of the staging with the public is scheduled. 

The audience will also meet with the famous artist Ingeborga Dapkunaite. A master class for young actors on dexterity will be given by actor, stunt plastic director Vladimir Malyugin. For students of the theater faculty a master class in modern circus directions will be held. 

Golden Mask in Israel will be included in the program of Jaffa Fest International Theater Festival held by Gesher Theater.
