Pushkin Dictation was written in New York for the first time, TASS reports. Its participants were people from Russia and local residents. The event was organized by Russian Youth of America Society. According to Marina Ivannikova, the Deputy Head of the organization, St. Petersburg teachers offered them to join the dictation.

About 40 people answered questions about life and work of the great poet. Among them were people aged 18 to 70 years. Six people were offered the Russian as a Foreign test version.

Guests from Saint Petersburg took part in Pushkin Dictation together with the residents of the United States. These days they were overseas and decided to test their knowledge.

People in New York responded with great enthusiasm to holding the action despite the fact that it had almost no advertising. Some participants gathered with their families. The tasks turned out to be interesting, but for most they were too difficult.

Nevertheless, Pushkin Dictation will be held again next year. The organizers do not doubt its importance and necessity. Interest in the Russian language should be maintained at a high level. Style and beauty of Pushkin’s works are best suited for this the depth.
