Museum of Russian Immigration opens in Moscow

Innaguration of the Museum of Russian Immigration took place in Moscow today, Riamo.ru reports. Russian MFA Minister Sergey Lavrov and authorized representative of Russian President in Central Federal okrug Igor Schegolev became its honoured guests. 

Sergey Lavrov in his speech reminded that the Russian Immigration museum is very important for our country, and Vladimir Putin promiced the best technical equipment and rich collection.

Museum named after Alexander Solzhenitsyn presents the first in Russia project that tells story of Russian immigration and huge cultural heritage left by our compatriots abroad.

The museum is about 5,000 square meters large. About 2/3 is taken by an exhibition space. There's also a repository and conference hall for 200 persons. 

The permanent exposition is located on the two floors of the new 4-floor building. Each of them follows two main museum topics: Excile: First Wave of Russian Immigration, and The Message from Russian Immigration to the World.   

There are in total 15 sections with more than 1200 showpieces that were gifted by First Wave Russian immigrants and their descendants to the museum.
