Conference of Russian compatriots of European countries held in Berlin

A regional conference of Russian compatriots of European countries called Russian-speaking Diasporas of Europe for Cooperation opened in the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin on May 20. The leaders of the national coordinating councils of Russian compatriots from 35 European countries, as well as the leaders of the World Congress of Compatriots take part in its work.

Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev, member of the Committee on International Affairs of Russian Council of Federation Oleg Morozov, Head of the Department for Work with Compatriots of Russian Foreign Ministry Oleg Malginov, Executive Director of Russkiy Mir Foundation Vladimir Kochin, Member of Public Chamber of Russian Federation Veronika Krasheninnikova, Director of the Foundation for the Support and Protection of the Rights of Compatriots Living Abroad Igor Panevkin, and Chairman of the World Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots Mikhail Drozdov addressed their greetings to the participants of the conference.

The participants of the conference, which will work until May 21, intend to discuss topical issues of consolidating Russian-speaking communities of Europe in the light of the decisions of the 6th World Congress of Compatriots , including the role of youth movements and associations in this process, interaction with civil societies in the countries of residence, protection of the rights of compatriots, their participation in the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Victory next year and a number of others.
