Exhibition of works in memory of USSR and Italy hero Fyodor Poletaev opened in Milan

An exhibition of works by young Russian artists has opened in Milan. It is conducted by the Italy - Russia association, the organization reports on its Facebook page.

The works are devoted to the theme of the Great Patriotic War, the exhibition is timed to the next anniversary of the Victory, as well as the anniversary of the Hero of the Soviet Union and Italy, Fyodor Poletayev. This year marks the 110th anniversary of the celebrated member of the Italian Resistance.


The exhibition includes more than sixty paintings. They were sent from Moscow, Ryazan, the Tver region and the Moscow region. The exhibition is opened from Monday to Friday. The entry is free.

Fyodor Poletayev, a native of Ryazan, was captured, put into an Italian camp and fled twice. He joined a partisan detachment and participated in many fights with the Nazis. Under the pseudonym of Poetano, he became famous for his bravery.

Poletaev died not far from Genoa three months before the end of the war. Italy rewarded the Soviet soldier with the gold medal For Military Virtue and the Garibaldi Medal. A few years ago, a memorial tablet was installed in Genoa.
