Three Russian films presented at the Cannes Film Festival

Three features by Russian directors have been included in the programs of the Cannes Film Festival, one of the most prestigious film forums in the world. Russian directors will bring to Cannes features dedicated to post-war Leningrad, a provincial teacher and a Russian emigrant in the United States, Russkiy Ochevidets newspaper reports.

Beanpole by Kantemir Balagov is presented in the Special Look program. It tells the story of women who returns to Leningrad after the WW2. The feature touches upon the problem of restoring a peaceful life after terrible military events.

The Complex Subject short by Russian director Olesya Yakovleva tells about mysterious teacher who comes to work in province school. The feature participates in the Cinefondation program.

The third Russian film is Give me Liberty by Kirill Mikhanovsky. It was included in the Director's Double Week program. The main character is a Russian immigrant from Milwaukee.

The Cannes Film Festival is held from 14 to 25 May. The main competition program includes new films by prominent world directors - Pedro Almodovar, Terrence Malik and other masters.
