The annual Rendezvous with Russia festival was held in the Belgian capital this weekend, TASS reports. About 4000 people gathered in Elizabeth Park in Brussels. Among them were representatives of city authorities, local residents, Russian diplomats and compatriots.

This is the 9th festival in a row. This year it was dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Belgian Federation of Russian-speaking organizations (BFRO). It is a traditional organizer of the festival.

An open stage was set up in the park, where children's’ and adult creative teams performed. Young viewers attended the Planet of Childhood concert. About 130 children became its participants.

The concert for adults consisted of performances of Russian, Belgian and Dutch bands.

According to Alexander Tokovinin, who heads the national diplomatic mission, BFRO is very important in consolidating Russian-speaking community. The organization also does a lot to strengthen ties with the historic homeland.

The Ambassador also thanked BFRO for the work aimed at promoting Russian language and Russian culture.

Festivities, fairs and exhibitions were held for guests. Visitors could taste the traditional dishes of the peoples of Russia and some former Soviet republics.

As Russkiy Mir reported, Rendezvous with Russia is dedicated to a significant event each year. The main feature of the previous event was a quiz on the World Cup, which was held in Russia. All contestants received prizes and souvenirs.
