Catherine the Great in the Country and the World exhibition opened in 2018, is available again. The Russian Museum launched a virtual tour of the exposition on the eve of the 290th anniversary of the Russian Empress. The collection includes images of Catherine II in portraits, caricatures and even medals, according to the Facebook page of the Russian Museum.

The project allows to see ceremonial and casual portraits of Catherine II and her contemporaries, created by domestic and foreign artists, as well as drawings and engravings with scenes of Russian-Turkish wars. The caricatures of foreign artists who criticized the empress’s policies are of particular interest. The exhibition also includes uniforms, dresses and medals of the Catherine era.

The virtual nature of the tour will help bring any of the works closer and examine it in detail.  Abstracts and audio guides commenting on the most significant and interesting exhibits will help to find out more about the reign of Catherine the Great.

The exhibition Catherine the Great in the Country and the World worked in the Mikhailovsky Castle as part of The Saga of the Romanov Dynasty program. Catherine II was born on April 21 (May 2), 1729 in Prussia.
