Old Believers will receive support of authorities when moving to Far East

25.04.2019

More than fifty families of Old Believers living in foreign countries are exploring the possibility of resettlement in Russian Far East. The authorities of Primorye promised to give them full support, allocating land for farming and housing.

Head of the community of Old Believers from Brazil Abraham Kalugin has already visited Primorsky region, where he examined the sites that the administration of the region is ready to provide for free use.

The Head of the working group on resettlement and adaptation of Old Believers, Deputy Governor of Primorye Anton Voloshko told about creating a grant support program in the region. He is confident that Old Believers will have the best conditions for the move.

The authorities of Far East are trying to create conditions for the support of Old Believers' farmers: lands are allocated; they help the settlers to get the equipment, and they provide consulting support.

Note, more than 70 Old Believers who moved from South America now live in Primorye. In the coming years, their number may grow. Russian side organizes study tours to various regions of the country for representatives of Russian communities from Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay and other countries.

Governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako said that he welcomed the decision of compatriots to return to Russia. According to him, the region needs spiritual experience, accumulated and preserved by the Old Believers, and their skills in the field of agriculture. According to Kozhemyako, South American countries have become world leaders in agriculture thanks to hardworking and enterprising Russian settlers.
