Ukrainian security forces have targeted the VGTRK Russian TV crew, Russian Foreign Ministry stated. The incident occurred near the village of Spartak, on the northern outskirts of Donetsk.

The Ministry called the deliberate armed attack on journalists "a gross violation of humanitarian law." Such crimes should not go unpunished, the MFA is convinced.

When Russian journalists were shooting the daily life in the village of Spartak located in the Donetsk People’s Republic region, someone opened sniper fire at them. By good fortune no one got killed.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that relevant international organizations were in no hurry to assess such cases. Particularly, there was no reaction from the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Harlem Desir. He is always ready to assess the conduct of counter-terrorist operations on the Crimean Peninsula trying to find journalists among those suspected of terrorism. At the same time, the real threat to the lives of media employees eludes his attention.
