Compatriots from Africa and Middle East discussed joint projects at forum in Beirut

Leaders of the organizations of Russian compatriots from Middle East and Asian countries became participants of the regional conference. It took place in Lebanese capital, Rossotrudnichestvo website informs. Russian-speaking Diasporas for Cooperation became the central theme of the forum, which was held for the 13th time. The conference was attended by representatives of organizations from Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, Palestine, Senegal, Morocco and other countries.

They discussed issues of concern to Russian compatriots within the frameworks of the following themes: Preservation of Spiritual Values, Cultural Identity in the Context of the Integration of Compatriots into the Society of Countries of Residence. Preservation of Russian Language; Work with Youth; Interaction with Civil Societies in the Countries of Residence. Protection of the Rights of Compatriots. 

Participants focused on the preparation for celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory, which will be celebrated next year.  

The speakers noted that one can observe the process of uniting the movement of compatriots throughout the world. The conference also discussed new joint projects in the cultural and humanitarian sphere. 

Also they noted the need to intensify activities aimed at promoting Russian language in the countries of Africa and Middle East. It is important to support the opening of Russian schools, to help them with textbooks and methodical literature. 

Russian education is in great demand here, as there are a large number of graduates from Russian universities in the region.
