Bolshoi Theater awarded laureates of Russian Ballet contest for young performers

The results of the 4th Russian Ballet contest for young performers have been summed up, TASS reports. Student of Moscow State Academy of Choreography Dmitry Smilevsky became the winner of the main prize. He will be able to choose a place for an internship in one of the leading Russian theaters: Bolshoi, Mariinsky, Mikhailovsky or Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theaters. 

Elizaveta Kokoreva from Moscow State Academy of Choreography and Michael Barkidzhidzha from Vaganova Saint Petersburg Academy received first prizes. Students of the Vaganova Academy Alexander Hiteeva and Marco Pietari Juusele recieved the second prizes. The third prizes were awarded to the student of Moscow State Academy of Choreography Anastasia Plotnikova and the student of Perm Ballet School Aleksey Khamzin. 

In total, about 30 people strived for victory. They represented more than a dozen ballet schools from different Russian regions, including Perm, Krasnoyarsk, Voronezh, Krasnodar, Kazan, Ufa, Novosibirsk and others. Each graduate student performed a piece from classical ballet repertoire. Their skills and abilities were assessed by leading experts, such as Nikolai Tsiskaridze, Boris Eifman, Marina Leonova and Mikhail Lavrovsky. 

The competition is held for the 4th year. People's Artist of the USSR, choreographer Yuri Grigorovich is a permanent Chairman of the jury.
