Schoolchildren from Japan practice language in Vladivostok

Twenty schoolchildren from Japan came to Vladivostok for a week to get acquainted with Russian culture and learn Russian language. The program is focused on practice and immersion in Russian-speaking environment and Russian culture, Obshchestvennoye Televideniye Primorya reports.

Japanese schoolchildren started their week with a meeting with the director of the Department of International Cooperation of Primorye Administration Alexei Starichkov. He spoke about how relations between Russia and Japan are developing and told them about the history and beauty of the region. The guests came from Toyama Prefecture. Еhey learn Russian at their school in Japan.

The program of the visit of Japanese schoolchildren in Vladivostok includes visiting local attractions. The guests have already visited the seaside branch of the world-famous Mariinsky Theater. They will also visit the aquarium, meet with students of local university and take part in other events. However, the Japanese comprehend the true Russian culture and traditions not only in theaters and in museums, but also in families they live with. Schoolchildren try traditional Russian cuisine and learn how to cook it. They have already cooked soup and vareniki.
