Alexander Shishkin-Hokusai will present Flemish theme installation at the 58th Venice Biennale

Artist and set designer from Saint Petersburg Alexander Shishkin-Hokusai will present Flemish School theme installation at the 58th Venice Biennale, IA Nevsky News reports. The Biennale will open in the middle of May.

According to the Russian Pavilion head Semen Mikhailovsky, the artist works on his “raw and ironic” piece right now. The installation consists of works with many layers and moving figures cut from plywood.

The exhibition of Russian pavilion at the largest forum of world art will include an installation on the. According to the Commissioner of Russian exhibition pavilion Semen Mikhailovsky, the artist is working on the installation now. It  Mikhailovsky added that it turns out a somewhat “crude, ironic thing”. 

Russian Pavilion in Venice will be dedicated to the largest Russian museum, the Saint Petersburg Hermitage. It is planned to invite a famous director Alexander Sokurov, who had previously filmed a movie about the Hermitage.
