Spirit of Fire International Film Festival opens in Khanty-Mansiysk

The Last Song of the Evening Russian-French film directed by Yevgeny Granilshchikov was included in the international program of the 17th Spirit of Fire International Film Debut Festival. It will be held in Khanty-Mansiysk on March 1-6. There will be a competition for Russian debuts, short films and children's movies within the frameworks of the festival, Kinobusiness.com reports. 

The movie by Yevgeny Granilshchikov was filmed at the junction of documentary and fiction films. Viewers can see a musical and poetic story that takes place in Saint Petersburg and Paris. The international program of Spirit of Fire includes seven more movies from Germany, Brazil, USA, Turkey and other countries. The well-known and titled director from Philippines Lav Diaz headed the jury. Russian film critic Mikhail Trofimenkov also joined the jury. 

Screenings of almost all movies presented in the category of Russian debuts will become world or Russian premieres. The program of movies for children and youth includes nine films, including Foundling and This Is Not Forever Russian movies. Another film is a joint production of several countries, including Russia. 

According to the festival’s official website, world famous director Sergei Solovyov conceived Spirit of Fire in 2002, and the debut forum was held a year later. More than 50 thousand viewers visited film screenings. 

The Spirit of Fire not only entertains its guests, but also loudly declares itself at the largest film festivals in the world. Russkiy Mir reported on the presentation of Khanty-Mansiysk Forum in Berlin in February 2019. The event was included in the program of Russian Seasons in Germany, and was also timed to the Berlin Film Festival.
