Russian singer Sergey Zakharov passed away

Famous Russian singer Sergey Zakharov passed away. He died shortly before his birthday, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports. He would have turned 69 years old in two and a half months. The singer died suddenly in Moscow. As his acquaintances explained, the cause of death was heart failure. 

The farewell ceremony for Sergey Zakharov will be held on Saturday, February 16. 

The future singer was born in a military family when his father served in Ukraine. His family moved to the Baikonur Cosmodrome later. Sergei Zakharov became interested in vocals from an early age. He was singing even in the army. 

He studied vocal art at the music school in the capital, but was never able to complete his education. His career was interrupted for several years. He started performing in the orchestra conducted by Leonid Utyosov. 

The main role in Heavenly Swallows movie brought Sergei Zakharov all-Union popularity. He performed Russian romances, many hits were on his score. Listeners invariably admired the velvet timbre of his voice. Sergey Zakharov was the winner of the Golden Orpheus and Sopot music competitions.
